MDL® Assay Explorer | Printer Friendly
Expand beyond the limitations of Microsoft® Excel® with the most flexible data management system on the market for capturing, calculating and analyzing high throughput screening data, low throughput screening data and in vivo data. With all biological assay results securely stored in a central database project teams have all available results to make informed decisions.
Better for high throughput screening (HTS):

  • Capture assay data from a variety of assay types including, but not limited to, calcium flux, enzyme kinetics, dose response, ELISA, ratio metric and simple single or replicate point screens

  • Analyze data in real time as it streams off an automated workstation or robotics solution

  • Automatically determine hits or invalidate points based on pre-defined criteria

  • Apply complex statistical analysis, including Zprime, Principal Components Analysis (PCA) and ANOVA to determine edge effects, and visually validate large amounts of screening data to ensure quality results

  • Optimize curve fits by automatically detecting and removing outliers and adjusting tunable parameters

  • Visually validate curve fits and double click to invalidate data points through interactive curve graphics

  • Request the next step. Whether it’s requesting a dose response plate or a series of hits for a selectivity assay, requests are placed in the queue for processing by the compound management team with MDL® Plate Manager

More for low throughput screening (LTS) and non-plate based assays:

  • Capture multiple assay types from functional and specificity assays through ADMET, PK/PD and in vivo assays

  • Create and view experiments directly in Microsoft Excel while maintaining the consistency of terminology and calculations through Assay Explorer

  • View curve fits, invalidate data points, apply statistical criteria and store all results to the Oracle® database

  • Avoid limitations introduced with templates or macros enabling scientists to add additional days, dosages or animals groups to experiments

  • Integration with industry standard statistical analysis tools such as Pharsight WinNonlin® and Graphpad Prism® enable scientists to continue to use preferred packages but seamlessly store results to the central database

  • Capture all data types including images and documents as experimental results

  • Add complex custom models or equations, or link to third party tools for enhanced calculation capabilities

Flexible control for IT professionals:

  • Integrate Assay Explorer with in-house systems, laboratory automation, and third party applications to fit unique company workflows with the integrated Microsoft® Visual Basic® for Applications

  • Customize the user interface for specific scientific workflows, add menu items, automate tasks and implement specific data validation rules through the documented API

  • Maximize the potential of the default data model, which contains both in vitro and in vivo data models, by adding company specific data tables or fields for specific data storage

  • Implement complex assay protocols from HTS to in vivo easily with powerful administrative tools

  • Control terminology used by scientists through the dictionary manager for consistent data input and easier retrieval of results

Integration is key to productivity

Out-of-the-box integration to third party products is key to the flexibility of Assay Explorer:

  • Ability to export/import data directly in SAS JMP®, a leader in statistical analysis
  • Integration with statistical analysis market leader Pharsight's WinNonlin
  • Integration with market leader GraphPad Prism for non-linear regression analysis
  • Integration with Microsoft Excel for the import of results into an Assay Explorer experiment

AE Server and the Job Monitor

Scientists can now set up their experiments, load the plates on the robot, press go and view the data and results as each plate is completed. Using the new AE Server and Job Monitor for unattended data acquisition, scientists can view results on-the-fly as each plate is processed by the robotics system. Trends can quickly be identified, saving reagents, time and money.
